Know By Heart – Guided Scripture Memory

I have a new podcast!!

Know By Heart is a weekly podcast to help you memorize Scripture, one verse at a time.

The inspiration for this podcast came from reading Robert J. Morgan’s book 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart. In this podcast, I’ll be following along with the verses in his book. If you’d like to grab a copy, that’s wonderful—but you don’t have to. The most important thing isn’t the book itself—it’s memorizing the verses.

We can have all the best intentions, all the tools, all the strategies—but nothing really changes unless we actually do the work. Memorizing God’s Word is something I deeply hope for myself, my children, and for everyone who loves the Bible.

At the start of every year many people are trying to improve themselves, build good habits, and begin new projects. And while those things are good, I truly believe there is nothing more important than hiding God’s Word in your heart and meditating on it day and night. Abiding in Christ through His Word is the ultimate form of self-improvement—because unlike anything else, this kind of growth lasts for eternity.

Each week, we’ll memorize one verse or portion of the Bible. We’ll reflect on it, practice it together, and explore ways to carry it with us throughout our day. The goal is simple: to help God’s Word live in your heart and shape your life.

We’ll be using the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible. I chose this version because it’s a “word-for-word” translation—it sticks closely to the original Hebrew and Greek. This helps us get as close as possible to the exact words God gave, which is important when memorizing and meditating on Scripture. But feel free to memorize any version you prefer.

I also have a Bible verse tracker printable that you can use to check off each verse as you memorize it. If you’re a visual learner, you can watch this episode on YouTube, where you can see the verse and follow along as you read. You can download the tracker PDF, find the videos, and get more information through the link in the show notes.

And memorizing new verses isn’t the only goal—we’ll also be reviewing old verses as we go. You know the saying: ‘Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver, the other’s gold.’ We hope these Bible verses will become old friends to us, because treasuring God’s Word is far more valuable than gold!

So whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been memorizing Scripture for years, I’d love for you to join me. Let’s commit together to truly know God’s Word by heart—and let it transform us from the inside out.

Mark your calendars! I can’t wait to get started with our first verse next week on Monday, January 5th, 2026!”
