All things bright and beautiful, All creatures gr All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.

The purple-headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset, and the morning,
That brightens up the sky;

The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.

He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

In this Resurrection Special, we journey with Cleo In this Resurrection Special, we journey with Cleopas and his companion—from the despair of a world that seems hopeless to the joy of encountering the risen Christ. Once confused and weighed down by sorrow, they are transformed when Jesus opens the Scriptures and breaks bread with them, revealing the truth of His resurrection. Through their story, we see the power of God’s plan, the hope of new life, and the meaning of Easter: sin defeated, death conquered, and a way back into God’s presence.

In this episode of the Sojourner Storycast, we fol In this episode of the Sojourner Storycast, we follow Cleopas and his traveling companion as they walk away from Jerusalem, hearts heavy after the crucifixion of Jesus. Along the dusty road to Emmaus, they wrestle with disappointment and doubt—until a stranger joins their journey.

We witness the moment everything changes: Jesus explains the Scriptures to them and then, at supper, takes the bread, gives thanks, and breaks it. In that moment, their eyes are opened, and they recognize the risen Lord. Their journey of sorrow turns into a story of hope, wonder, and joy as they run back to share the incredible news with the other disciples.

Cleopas’ story reminds us that when all hope seems lost, God is still present and working. God’s love is stronger than death, and His promises are true. Like Cleopas, we are invited to see, believe, and share the hope that comes from Christ’s resurrection. Communion, or the breaking of bread, becomes a tangible reminder that Jesus’ sacrifice was for us, that He is alive, and that we have a living hope until He returns.

Scripture: Genesis 22:1–14; Luke 24:13–35; Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 15:3–8

This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves history and Scripture together to show how God worked through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. In this verse, God calls us to make His Word a liv In this verse, God calls us to make His Word a living part of our daily rhythm—not just a lesson we teach, but a conversation that flows naturally throughout our day. Whether we’re sitting at home, walking down the street, lying down at night, or starting a new day, God wants His truth to shape our words, our hearts, and the lives of our children.

I recently heard @sally.clarkson say, “In the absence of Biblical conviction, people go the way of culture.” This hits home for every parent: if we aren’t intentional about teaching God’s Word and talking about it constantly, our children—and even we ourselves—will drift toward the values and patterns of the world around us. Diligence in teaching, discussion, and example is not optional; it is essential for building lives rooted in God’s truth.

This also reminds me of something @timkellernyc said about identity in contemporary culture. Today, we’re often told to “look inside yourself” and “be true to who you are.” But here’s the thing: your heart is never empty. It’s already full of ideas, desires, values—and someone is teaching you which of those to follow. If it’s not God, it’s culture. So when we think we’re just expressing ourselves, we’re often just echoing whatever our culture says we should be. None of us are neutral. If we’re not filling ourselves with God, culture will fill the space—and we might not even realize it.

This verse reminds us that we can’t leave our hearts—or our children’s hearts—unguided. God calls us to saturate our homes with His Word, to teach, to model, and to talk about His truth at every opportunity. When we do, we create a moral and spiritual grid shaped by God, not the shifting winds of the world.

Press play, repeat after me, and let’s memorize De Press play, repeat after me, and let’s memorize Deuteronomy 6:7 together—“You shall teach them diligently to your children…”

This verse reminds us that God’s Word isn’t meant to stay private—it’s meant to be shared, spoken, and lived out in front of those around us, especially our children. It calls us to be intentional, to bring Scripture into our everyday conversations, and to let it shape the atmosphere of our homes.

As you memorize this verse, picture God’s Word not just rooted in your own heart, but flowing out into your daily life—into your words, your routines, and your relationships. Look for simple moments today to talk about Him, to point your children back to truth, and to live out what you’re learning. When we carry Scripture with us and pass it on faithfully, we’re helping plant seeds that can grow for generations.

It is such a powerful testament to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It’s one thing to hear about the cross… it’s another to slow down and really see what Jesus endured.

Every detail points back to Him—His suffering, His sacrifice, His love, and His victory!

War is something we often think of as wholly bad—s War is something we often think of as wholly bad—something to be avoided at all costs. But as I’ve been reading The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul, I was struck by this idea: sometimes war is necessary to establish peace.

In the beginning, humanity declared war on God. In the garden, through Adam and Eve, we essentially said, “We’ll do it our own way—thank you very much.” Had God remained aloof in heaven, indifferent to our wayward world, we likely would have self-destructed long ago.

But God, who is rich in mercy, did not stand at a distance. He intervened—personally.

He declared war on sin and death, and began preparing for battle. Through the line of Israel, He promised a Savior. A war was waged not for destruction, but for redemption. Not to bring an end to humanity, but to bring about everlasting peace.

And when the fullness of time came, the showdown began. Jesus Christ entered the world through the incarnation—not as Superman, but as a helpless babe. When He rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, it wasn’t on a haughty stallion, but on a humble donkey.

This war would not be won by taking lives—but by laying down His own.

At the cross, Jesus bore our punishment. Victory came through His death—so that we would not have to die in ours. Because this war was fought and won, we can now have peace with God.

We often think of God’s holiness as something dist We often think of God’s holiness as something distant, untouchable, or even intimidating. But Scripture shows us something amazing: God allows His people to wrestle with Him.

Jacob, Job, Habakkuk—they all struggled, questioned, and even argued with God. And yet, in their wrestling, they were not destroyed. They came out alive—and ultimately at peace with Him.

God’s holiness does not push us away; it invites us into honest struggle. Sometimes losing the battle in our way is the path to finding His peace.

Have you wrestled with God today? What is He inviting you to surrender so you can know His peace?

Henry Moorhouse was only sixteen when his life was Henry Moorhouse was only sixteen when his life was already marked by gambling, theft, and gang leadership. By most standards, he was far from God. But during the revival of 1859, Henry encountered the gospel—and everything changed. Not because he had resolved to become a better person, but because he came to understand something foundational: God loved him.

John 3:16 became his favorite verse because it explained his own story. Moorhouse often said that he had once believed God loved him because Christ died for him, but later realized the truth—that Christ died for him because God loved him. That realization shaped everything about his faith and his preaching.
