This verse is often quoted as a promise that every

This verse is often quoted as a promise that everything will eventually work out the way we want. But Paul is promising something much greater.

God doesn’t say that everything that happens to us is good. He says that He works all things together for good—and the very next verse tells us what that good is: that we would be “conformed to the image of his Son.”

Sometimes God’s good doesn’t look like an easier life, a happy ending, or the outcome we hoped for. Sometimes His good looks like deeper faith, greater endurance, a heart that looks more like Christ, or a growing dependence on Him.

So when life doesn’t make sense, we can trust this: God has not lost control. He is still working—even here. His purpose is not merely to make our lives comfortable, but to make us like Christ and bring us safely home.

God is working all things—not for our temporary comfort, but for our eternal good.

And what is that good? The very next verse tells us: “to be conformed to the image of his Son.” God’s purpose isn’t simply to make our circumstances turn out the way we want, but to make us more like Christ.

When life brings suffering, disappointment, or circumstances we don’t understand, we can trust that none of it is wasted in God’s hands. He is still working—even here.

So when we can’t understand what God is doing, we can hold onto what we know: God is faithful, His purpose is good, and He is using all things to make us more like Christ.

Jesus proclaimed, “It is finished,” when He drank

Jesus proclaimed, “It is finished,” when He drank the cup of wrath for us.

And in Revelation, as the final bowl of God’s wrath is poured out, heaven declares, “It is done.”

Those who reject the Lamb will one day drink the cup of judgment themselves. But Christ willingly drank that cup for us.

Think about that.

The wrath we deserved, He received.
The mercy we did not deserve, He gives.

So when we take the cup at the Lord’s Supper, we remember what Jesus has done:

He drank our cup of judgment so that we could drink His cup of blessing.

Thank you Jesus!

To seek God’s kingdom is to seek His rule and His

To seek God’s kingdom is to seek His rule and His purposes. It’s to say, “God, I want You to be King here. I want Your will—not mine—to have the final word.”

That applies to everything:
• How do I spend my money?
• How do I treat my spouse?
• How do I raise my children?
• What kind of person am I becoming?
• How do I respond when I’m wronged?
• What do I do with my time?
• What am I willing to sacrifice?

You’re essentially saying, “God, Your kingdom comes first. I want my life to be a place where Your reign is welcomed and obeyed.”

Then Jesus adds “and his righteousness.”

This is to seek the kind of life that corresponds with God’s character and will.

In other words:
Seeking His kingdom is to desire God’s rule. Seeking His righteousness is to desire to live rightly under that rule.

This verse reminds us what it means to truly put God first. Jesus doesn’t simply tell us not to worry—He tells us what to seek instead: “the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”

To seek God’s kingdom is to desire His rule and His purposes above our own. To seek His righteousness is to desire a life that reflects His character and follows His ways.

When we’re tempted to become consumed with securing our future, controlling our circumstances, or making sure we have everything we need, Jesus calls us to lift our eyes back to the King. Our Father already knows what we need.

So instead of spending our lives chasing “all these things,” we can seek Him first—and trust Him with the rest.

I’ve been reading this book with my kids, and honestly, it has been such a fun way to introduce them to some BIG questions.

Susan Schaeffer Macaulay shares true stories from people who came to L’Abri, the Christian community founded by her parents, Francis and Edith Schaeffer. Through their questions, doubts, and conversations, she helps kids think about the ideas our culture is constantly handing them—and, more importantly, ask whether those ideas are actually true.

I love books that don’t just tell our kids what to think, but teach them how to recognize, question, and evaluate the ideas shaping them.

And this one does it in a way that’s engaging, funny, and accessible for kids.

The seven bowls of Revelation 15–16 can be difficult to read. The judgments are severe, the imagery is intense, and it can be tempting to focus only on the destruction.

But John is showing us something much bigger.

The bowls echo the plagues of Egypt, reminding us that God is still the God who “judges evil and delivers His people”. Just as He confronted Pharaoh and brought Israel out of slavery, He will ultimately confront the powers of this world and bring His people safely into His kingdom.

And there is something especially sobering in these chapters: “again and again, humanity refuses to repent.”

The problem isn’t simply that people don’t recognize God’s power. Even while experiencing His judgments, they curse God rather than turn to Him.

Then, with the seventh bowl, a voice comes from the throne: “It is done.”

The kingdoms of this world may appear powerful. Evil may seem to have the upper hand. But Revelation pulls back the curtain and reminds us that God is still on His throne, His judgment is righteous, and His victory is certain.

So the question Revelation keeps bringing us back to is:

Whom will you worship?

Not just when judgment comes.
Not just when life is difficult.
But today.

One of the beautiful patterns in Revelation is that worship is always rooted in truth. Heaven doesn’t worship God because of an emotional experience; it worships Him because of who He is.

In Revelation 4, the throne room erupts in praise: “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power.” But notice the reason: “For you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” God is worthy because He is the Creator. Everything that exists owes its life to Him. Every mountain, every ocean, every heartbeat, and every breath exists because He willed it into being.

Then, in the very next chapter, the focus shifts. In Revelation 5, a new song is sung to the Lamb: “Worthy are you... for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God.” The Father is praised as the Creator; the Son is praised as the Redeemer. Together, these chapters answer one of life’s biggest questions: Why is God worthy of our worship? Because He made us, and because He redeemed us.

This is why worship isn’t merely singing songs on Sunday. Worship is the proper response of creatures to their Creator and of redeemed sinners to their Savior.

The more we understand who God is and what Christ has done, the more naturally our hearts respond with awe, gratitude, and obedience.

God did not simply create the world and leave it to run on its own. By His will, all things continue to exist. Every sunrise, every breath, and every heartbeat is a testimony to His sustaining power. When we are tempted to believe we are in control or that life has no purpose, this verse calls us to lift our eyes to the One who created all things and holds all things together. He alone is worthy to receive all glory, honor, and power.

One of my favorite images in Revelation is easy to miss.

John sees God’s people standing on a “sea of glass mixed with fire” (Revelation 15:2). They aren’t fighting the waves—they’re standing in victory, singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb.

That image sends us back to Matthew 14.

Jesus doesn’t merely walk on water to prove His divinity. Throughout Scripture, the sea often represents chaos, evil, and the forces opposed to God’s kingdom. Jesus calmly walks over the storm because everything that threatens us is already beneath His feet.

Peter is invited to participate in that victory. As long as he keeps his eyes on Jesus, he walks above the waves. When fear overtakes him, Jesus immediately reaches out and saves him. Peter’s security rests not in the strength of his faith, but in the faithfulness of his Savior.

Revelation brings this story to its glorious conclusion. Those who belong to Christ are no longer struggling to stay afloat. They stand on the sea itself, having passed safely through suffering, persecution, and even death.

The sea mixed with fire also echoes Israel’s Exodus. After passing through the Red Sea, Israel sang the Song of Moses (Exodus 15). Now, God’s redeemed people sing the Song of Moses “and” the Song of the Lamb because Jesus has accomplished the greater Exodus, delivering His people from sin and death forever.

The storms may still rage around us, but they will never reign over us.

Because Christ has already won!

One simple way to remember Psalm 100 is to see it

One simple way to remember Psalm 100 is to see it as two movements, and both begin with a call to worship.

The first section, verses 1–3, calls us to praise God with gladatude. We are told to make a joyful noise, serve the Lord with gladness, and know that He is God. This is a call to rejoice in who God is.

The second section, verses 4–5, calls us to praise God with gratitude. We enter His gates with thanksgiving because we know the character of the God we are approaching. He is good, loving, and faithful.

Gladatude and gratitude are not only responses for easy seasons of life—they are anchors for every season.

Many people read Revelation as one long chronologi

Many people read Revelation as one long chronological timeline.

But after the seventh trumpet, John pauses the action and gives us **seven symbolic visions** (Revelation 12:1–15:5).

Each one retells the same age from a different perspective, revealing the spiritual conflict taking place behind human history.

These seven histories show:
• Satan’s hatred for Christ and His Church
• The rise of worldly power and false worship
• Christ’s faithful protection of His people
• God’s call to repentance
• The certainty of final judgment
• The ultimate victory of the Lamb

The point isn’t to satisfy our curiosity about the future—it’s to strengthen our faith in the present.

No matter how fierce the battle appears, the ending is already written.

The Lamb wins!

Psalm 100 is the Bible’s great hymn of thanksgiving. In fact, it’s the only psalm specifically titled “A Psalm for Giving Thanks.” It was likely sung by God’s people as they entered the temple in Jerusalem to worship.

Imagine families making the long journey to Jerusalem for one of Israel’s annual feasts. As the temple came into view and they walked through its gates, they would sing these very words: “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.” Before they offered sacrifices or brought their requests to God, they were reminded to enter His presence with grateful hearts.

What’s beautiful is that this isn’t just a command to say “thank you.” It’s an invitation to approach God with the right posture. Thanksgiving shifts our focus away from ourselves and onto the Lord. Instead of beginning with our worries or our to-do list, we begin by remembering who He is and what He has done. Gratitude prepares our hearts for worship.

This psalm has encouraged God’s people for thousands of years. In the 1500s, Scottish minister William Kethe wrote the hymn All People That on Earth Do Dwell, based on Psalm 100. Set to the tune known as “Old Hundredth,” it became one of the most beloved hymns in church history and has been sung for nearly five centuries in churches around the world. It’s a wonderful reminder that this call to joyful, thankful worship has united God’s people across generations.

Today, because of Jesus, we don’t have to travel to a temple to enter God’s presence. Through Him, we have access to the Father wherever we are. So as you memorize Psalm 100:4 this week, let it shape the way you pray. Before asking God for anything, pause to thank Him. Praise Him for who He is. Bless His name. You may find that gratitude changes not only your prayers, but your perspective.

Before Peter tells us what we should do, he remind

Before Peter tells us what we should do, he reminds us of what God has already done.

This verse is almost like climbing a staircase. Each phrase leads naturally to the next.

It begins with praise.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Peter’s eyes are fixed on God. The Christian life doesn’t start with ourselves; it starts with adoration. When we remember who God is, everything else begins to find its proper place.

Then Peter tells us why God deserves our praise.

“According to his great mercy...”

Notice he doesn’t say, “According to our goodness,” or “According to our efforts.” Everything that follows flows out of God’s mercy. Mercy is God withholding the judgment we deserve and instead showing compassion to sinners.

That mercy leads to the next phrase.

“He has caused us to be born again...”

This isn’t something we accomplish. Peter says God has caused it. Just as none of us gave ourselves physical life, we cannot give ourselves spiritual life. New birth is God’s gracious work from beginning to end.
But new birth isn’t an end in itself.

It brings us into “a living hope.”

The world offers hopes that fade. We hope a job works out. We hope our health improves. We hope our plans succeed. Those hopes may or may not come to pass.
But Peter speaks of a living hope—a hope that is alive because the One in whom it rests is alive. It isn’t wishful thinking; it’s confident expectation rooted in God’s promises.
