Window on the World: An Operation World Prayer Resource is a wonderful guide for families who want to pray intentionally for Christians and ministries around the globe. Did you know there are nearly 230 countries in the world, home to thousands of people groups with their own languages, customs, and traditions? This guide introduces families to some of those countries and people groups, highlighting where knowledge of God’s love through Jesus is limited, and providing a meaningful way to pray that the good news would reach them.
The book is organized alphabetically, making it easy to explore one country or people group at a time. Each entry gives a brief overview of the nation, its customs, beliefs, and the local Christian community, followed by clear, structured prayer points. These points are divided into things to thank God for and requests to bring before Him, helping families focus their prayers thoughtfully.
How our family uses it: Each week, we pick one country or people group to read about together and pray over. After we finish, we put a tab on the page to mark the ones we’ve already covered. It’s a simple way to track progress and make our prayer time intentional and consistent.
For homeschooling families, this guide is particularly versatile. It can be used as a spine for geography studies, allowing kids to research each country more deeply, try cooking local foods, or present what they’ve learned to the family while praying for that nation. Families could even form a prayer club with other homeschoolers to explore and pray for different countries together.
Overall, Window on the World is an invaluable tool for cultivating a global perspective, teaching children to pray with purpose, and encouraging families to actively engage in God’s work around the world. Have you used this resource in your family devotions? What other prayer resources do you love? Stay tuned—we have another prayer resource that we’re loving and can’t wait to share!
